So Blessed - Sketches in Thyme July 1st week

Hi Everyone!

It's the last day of the month and I still want to try to join some challenges (last minute entries!).  Anyways, this one is from the Sketches in Thyme July week 1 challenge.  The photos I used was during the christening of  Glaiza's (one of my high school close friend) daughter,  Zynel Angeli.  I was given the privilege to one of the Godmother! I love this photo of us since I looked like I could carry a baby like pro when the fact is I really don't know how.  I am an only child so I never had the chance to take care of a younger sibling.  I really terrified of carrying a baby especially if it less than six months old.  I am scared that I could drop them...:( But my friend really wanted to have a picture of all the god parents carrying the baby so I just told her to position Zynel in my arms while I stood near the altar and after taking the picture she just went and got the baby.  I just stood there the whole time! But I was happy that she chose me as one the godparents.  So enough of my babbling, here is my finished layout!

Hello Boracay! - LGS week 3

Hello Everyone!

Today I am sharing to you a layout I made based on the Let's Sketchy July week 3 challenge.  Last 2013, I had the chance to visit the wonderful island of Boracay!... A brief background, Boracay Island is one of the world-class destinations here in the Philippines.  If you are into beaches then this is the place for you.  Clear waters and white sand beaches welcomes you and it is one of the best place to relax.  Anyway, I finally had the chance to visit the island and for three glorious days, I had accumulated memories worthy to be treasured forever. I took a lot of pictures during that trip and they are already printed and ready to be scrapped!  So here is one one of them.  This is just a random picture of our boarding pass and the airline sign.  Hope you enjoyed my layout!

Loving Gaze - Let's Get Sketchy July week 1

Hello everyone!

"As with any journey, who you travel with can be more important than your destination ~Gossip Girl~" Since we both love to travel, the quote fits us perfectly.  For us, the destination doesn't matter but as long as we are traveling together, it becomes perfect. Early this year, we went for our first out of town trip for the year.  We went to Lambug Beach in Badian Cebu to camp for a night.  Along the way, we passed several parks that we couldn't resist to stop and take photos.  Using our ever trusted tripod, this picture where in we were looking at the sea was snapped.  We did not stay for long since we still have to reach our destination and the clouds looked like it was going to rain.  But through this photo, the memory of the short time we spent there will always be remembered.  That is the reason why I used this photo for the layout  I created for the Let's Get Sketchy July week 1 challenge.  Hope you will like the way I  used the sketch.

Biker Chick - Let's Get Sketchy July week 2

Hello everyone!

Traveling is one of our passions.  We love exploring new places and visiting tourist spots.  Whether it is planned or just a spur of the moment idea, traveling is one of the best bonding moments we do.  I don't know how to drive a bike but I couldn't resist posing and pretending that I do know.  I just loved how my boyfriend took this picture.  The mountain behind me served as the perfect background for this photo.  This photo was taken when we went to Gov. Leysons Peak in Busay Cebu .  It was just one of those perfect  days where we spontaneously decided to make quick roadtrip to get away from the busy city life.  The mountains, the cold breeze and the peacefulness was just the thing we need to relax.  It was a great day and as usual we took lots of pictures! (nature is the best backdrop!).  So for the Let's Get Sketchy July week 2 challenge, I decided to use this photo and just played around with the sketch.  Hope you all like my interpretation!

Remember: Memories are cherished - miniowner entry

Hi everyone!

Today, I am sharing with you a layout I made based on the July challenge at Me and Mine blog.  I used kraft cardstock as the base and added some doily shaped patterned papers.  Pardon the repetition of the photos (yep, still our lighthouse escapade..:D) but I really loved our selfies then.  I loved the combination of the the photos.  It clearly shows that we could be both serious and wacky.  I think the title I made is perfect for this memory since we both had a lot of fun and it deserves to be always cherished.  So hope you like my layout as much as I loved doing it!...

Happy Moment - Scrapbook Challenges

Hi everyone..

Weddings always make me giddy and happy.  Maybe because I think it is every girls dream to walk down the aisle one day and spend the rest of your life with the one that you love. Anyways, I want to share my interpretation for the SBC sketch # 446.  The photo was taken during the wedding of one of my college best friends.  I had the honor of being one of her bridesmaids and of course I was accompanied from my ever dashing date. Hope you all like my take on the sketch.

Love Struck! - Scrapmuch

Hey everyone!

I'm here again to share another layout based on the Scrapmuch July challenge.  I'm really into layouts lately, mostly because I still have a lot of printed photos waiting to be scrapped.  Since me and my boyfriend love to travel (mostly impromptu roadtrips!), we have a lot pictures to document and preserve those memories.  The pictures I used in this layout is one of those unexpected roadtrips where we just want to get away from the city and be one with nature.  I loved using pale colors as background because it makes my picture pop and be the center of the layout.  I really adored this photo because even though we were just using a selfie-stick, it had captured the lighthouse as our background.  I always carry a tripod or a selfie-stick every time we travel just in case we see a perfect spot for a photo op.  We only see each other once a week (he works in a different town and his RD is on weekends only) so every place we go is always memorable that's why I feel the need to capture it. But distance does not hinder us and even though we're together for the past six years,  we still act like love struck sweethearts every time we see each other. So here is my take on the scrapmuch layout.

mermaid for a day - challenge YOUself sketch

Hi everyone!

I here once again to share to you a layout I made based on the July Challenge at Challenge YOUself.  As a little girl, I was big fan of disney movies (actually, I still AM!).  I have secretly wished to become a princess like Snow White or a mermaid like Ariel.  Well last year, I had the chance to become a mermaid, even just for a few hours.  We went to Plantation Bay Resort and Spa in Lapu-lapu City Cebu for our company last year and part of the activities offered there is the Mermaid Lessons and Pictorial.  So  me and my two officemates decided to try this and it was worth the price.  We weren't able to avail their lessons since the instructor was not around.  But the pictorial was fun.  We were able to use their mermaid costumes and posed around the pool.  It was an unforgettable experience for me and that's why I chose this photo as the subject of my layout.  I want to preserve this memory and remember that I experienced what it was like to be a little mermaid.  So enough of my ramblings, here is my take on their sketch.

Here and now - GrandDiva's Creative Corner: July 2015 sketch Challenge

Hey everybody!

It has been a busy week for me.  I have been making various interpretations on some sketch layout challenges and I enjoyed every bit of it.  It give me the excuse to scrapbook our many photos which have been lying dormant in my shelf.  So, for this challenge, I went over to GrandDiva's Creative Corner and made my take on their layout challenge.  What I loved of their sketch is the many layers Brenda has incorporated.  This is just right for me because I have been meaning to use the scraps from my other projects which I still kept.  I really don't have the habit of throwing away these scraps because I know they can still be recycled for other projects, especially for layouts with many layers.  The pictures I used is still from our Lighthouse trip.  We took so many pictures (pardon for being selfie addicts!..:D) there and I had printed most of it.  So here is my interpreatation of their sketch!

Love brings the fun in us - Stuck?! challenge entry

Hey guys!

Today I'm sharing to you my entry in Stuck?! July challenge.  The photos I used were taken during our trip in  Lilo-an, Cebu where we visited their historic lighthouse or locally known as Parola.  We had so much fun goofing around and taking selfies (we are both certified camera addicts!).  It was just a perfect day for us.  There is an overlooking view of the sea and the place was just amazing.  We had a picnic there and spent the whole day relaxing and breathing in the fresh air.  It was a nice time to take a moment away from the city and our hectic work life and just enjoy each others company.

here is the sketch from Stuck?!

And here is my take on the the challenge

Mini Albums!

Hi everyone!

A few years ago, I happened to watch a video from youtube on making a pocket page mini album series by My sister scrapper and I fell in love with it.  Making mini albums is so fun for me especially when I have some difficulty in choosing which photos from a certain event to scrapbook.  With mini albums, you can make it by theme or by event and put many pictures to it.  It gave a new way to store photos and I knew that my friends and loved ones would not get bored from watching the photos in the album.  Mini albums are also a great idea to give as gifts.  You can personalize to to any occasion such as birthdays, weddings, christenings, anniversaries, ect.  A few of my close friends have received these kinds of gifts and based on their feedback, they all loved it!

So here is one of the mini albums that I have created.  I used catalog envelops and used the same binding system as shown in the my sister scrapper video.  I loved the rustic feel of this album and I think this works best on vintage family albums.  It can store a lot of pictures and has pockets, flaps, tags and photo mats.

My girly office organizer

Hi everyone!

I try not to limit myself to just creating scrapbook layouts. Sometimes I try to explore other craft ideas to make. Since I work as an admin assistant in an I.T. company her in Cebu, my desk is oftentimes littered with paper, clips and other office supplies. I had an idea then to create an organizer to somehow clear up the space (actually, it was just an excuse to create some stuff..hehe).  So when I got home, I searched the internet for some DIY and I came upon the splitcoaststampers site and saw the tutorial made by Heather Perreaux and it was just beautiful. It was the perfect organizer to store small stuffs like paper and binder clips.  I just added a little detail for the pen caddy.  I used the empty toilet paper rolls for this and just decorated it with paper and laces.  And since I am a girly crafter, pinks and butterflies dominate the project...:D

So here is my finished project and is now proudly sits in my desk...

another freaking scrappy challenge entry

hello everyone!

I'm here once again  creating another layout based on the July challenge at another freaking scrappy challenge.  Their challenge for the month is to use the word AWESOME in the layout as title or part of journaling.  I decided to use it as my subtitle of my layout.  It was the perfect excuse to use my new motex label maker (hehehe)... The picture I used in my layout was the one taken during one of my travels.  It was farewell outing for our boss in 2012 where we went in Oslob, Cebu to see the famous whale sharks or locally known as Butanding. It was one of the most unforgettable experiences for me.  So here is my layout!

Why I love scrapbooking

Hi guys!

People often ask why I am into scrapbooking. Well, I love scrapbooking because it gives me the chance to capture memories.  It gives me the chance to create pages that looks appealing to the viewer.  Also, I think of it as my personal stress reliever.  They may think that scrapbooking is a lot of work but for me it is very relaxing.  After eight hours of my day job, I look forward to going home and continue whatever layout or album I may be doing.  And it really gives me great satisfaction to see my finished work.  Some say it is an expensive hobby but I often tell them that if you know how to improvise, it is not.  The most basic materials can be transformed amazing creations with a little bit of creativity and imagination. So enough of my ramblings, I would to show you one of my layouts.

This was taken during the wedding of one of my college best friends.  The four of us have known each other since we were freshmen in college and all of us were working scholars in our university.  So, back to my layout.  I used mostly pink elements here since the color theme of her wedding was pink and everyone that knows me knew that pink is my favorite color. (girly-much!).  I added flowers and trims in pink and cream and cut out some butterfly shapes to decorate it.  I loved making this layout!  I think it is the best way to preserve the memories of that day.  The happiness...the overflowing love... and most of all, knowing that the friendship of between the four of us will last.

July Challenge

Hello everyone!

July is already here! And here is my entry to the scrapbook challenge at Stick it down.  It's been a while since I joined a scrapbook challenge and I hope they will like my interpretation of their sketch.  The picture I used is the one taken of me and my boyfriend during our first out of town trip of 2015.  We went to Lambug beach in Badian, Cebu and on the way there we came upon a beautiful park.  We couldn't resist stopping over to admire the view and of course, take some souvenir pictures.  Anyway, I love this picture of the two of us and it seems a perfect one to use as the main subject of my layout.  I used yellow and brownish tones in my layout.  Hope you guys like it!

Here is their sketch....

...and this my interpretation...

Thanks!!!

welcome to craftynchicks world

Hi Everyone!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve written any article.  So please bear with my ramblings.  First things first, let me introduce myself, my name is Cory and I am from Cebu, Philippines and I am as self-proclaimed crafter.  Ever since I was in school, I considered myself artsy.   Maybe because I am an only child, I turned to crafting to entertain myself when my folks are at work.  I had tried different forms of art.  I had tried drawing and painting but that didn’t quite work.  My drawings instead of becoming realistic, it turned into abstract and Picasso-ish.  So I turned into needlework and clothes designing.   My grandmother had taught me how to sew and make doll clothes, so back then, I had the most fashionable dolls, fit for a dolly runway.  I also ventured into cross-stitching, usually pictures of my favorite cartoon characters and nature themes.  Then, my mother introduced me to the world of crochet.  From the basic stitches, I became so interested that I ventured into making bags, hats and eventually summer clothes.  But in spite of all of these different crafts, I eventually fell in love with scrapbooking.  I think this is because I love printing pictures.  Before I thought it was just about arranging it in an album and writing captions under it, but as time goes by, I discovered that there is a lot more you can do to make it more fun.  Anyways, I think this post is getting quite long and I don’t want to bore you, so please enjoy my pages.  It’s not all about the techniques I applied but rather the subjects that I showcase.

Cheers!

Cory…
